Grief Makes Eating Hard

A well-balanced diet can help your body physically withstand the stress of grieving.  But yes, we know, nothing sounds good to eat. It feels like you just got sucker-punched in the gut. Everything seems difficult, especially going to the grocery store. The last thing you want to do is go to the grocery store, well except for cleaning up after you cook.  Let's be honest, spending time in the kitchen is just not going to happen. Grief has taken all of the excitement out of eating. If you have lost your appetite, eat small portions more frequently.  Eat raw vegetables, dip them in Ranch if that is your thing (how can that not be your thing?), eat yogurt, a handful of walnuts, go back to watching Netflix, then drink some water, water, water, if you have the energy, drive to get a smoothie, eat some strawberries or a turkey wrap. Eat some mac & cheese if you want to.  Don't put expectations on yourself, eat what you feel like eating, but remember that your body needs healthy nutrients, and you have to eat! Do the best you can, your appetite will eventually come back.
